I've found myself in that situation here as well, for those from my world, or one very similar. I'm sorry you have that weight on your heart as well.

How do you cope?

I've lost much, and frequently, in my life. I move forward, I pay respect to the memories of those I've cared for and lost, and I take steps to ensure those I care for now are not lost to my negligence, where my care could save them, and to acknowledge when it is something beyond my control.

Nothing in it is easy. But having known them, having cared for them, leaves me better enriched than their loss leaves me hollowed.

I hope you won't mind if I try to follow your example.

I don't mind in the slightest, just advise you remember what it took me years to truly learn. You may not be surrounded by those of your home here, but you aren't alone. Rely on the connections you make. Bonds will stand stronger than one person, solitary, whatever and however strong that person may be.

I agree with you on that - you won't have to struggle to convince me. I'm not a very good lone wolf kind of person, not anymore anyway.

There's a level of cultivation one reaches where the body no longer ages, until one is much older, and time remembers to start progressing for the body as well as the soul. It's all much slower than if we were, ah, mortals, though we're not free of the mortal coil. The words I find don't translate well for explanation.

Wizards technically age slower, or rather live longer, presumably, but I don't think it works the same way. I think they just...get old at the natural pace and then make it well past one hundred years out of sheer endurance.

Nevertheless, words for it or not, you look unfairly youthful for someone in their forties.

Thank you, I worked very hard in my youth to achieve these results. Lan Zhan, clearly, too, and is perhaps the one meant to look most handsome of all those who're here from our particular world... or worlds, as there are differences in what some of us have experienced, despite being familiar by name to each other.

Anyway, are you to tell me you won't find a way to look effortlessly beautiful through all your years? Hatisse might have suggestions, no claiming they'll be methods that will work for certain or across worlds.
