Wangji also has no idea of what is supposed to happen now because well, he's never actually dated anyone. He has no real notions of how these things should be, beyond what he might have read in some books.
The actual asking out part also never happened like that in any of the books he's read.
Alright. Alright, they can do this in order this time.]
Then my answer is yes. Go take a shower. I'll get some clean clothes out for you and clean this up.
( Right, so Lan Zhan says all these things that he's really going to do in a moment, but forgive him, he's barely processing this beyond the yes and, well.
So he'd started out asking about making out, which he knows in theory, but not practise. It's about the one saving grace (breath and all) because it's not terribly artful that he's just. Given up on holding onto the blanket and rather spontaneously cupped Lan Zhan's face to plant a big, ol' close-mouthed kiss to his lips like an over excited.................... cat in the face of catnip. )
[It's alright, Wangji is holding onto the blanket, which is nice because it gives him something to hold onto when Wei Ying just grabs him and smooches him like that, and if he had been holding a cup or something else then those might have met an untimely end at the mercy of a suddenly too tight grip.
It's the first time ever someone kisses him. His heart is beating so hard in his chest he's not sure he can hear anything else.
His face still looks petty impassive, but that's mostly because he has no idea what face to make. His ears are definitely very red though.
And when Wei Ying pulls back, he chases to give a small peck of his own. But then...]
... Shower.
[First, because you need one, but also please, he needs like five minutes of space so he can breathe.]
( The chasing reassure whatever part of Wei Wuxian started pointed out this was a terrible idea, because some part of him went screeching that direction, and then another part of him smugly decides it was indeed the best idea, and he grins, chuckles at the repeat of shower, and... pats Lan Zhan's cheek. )
Shower, yes, I will. Right now!
( Then, perfectly logically, he ducks out of the blanket? That Lan Zhan is still holding? Like some kind of slippery fish that then all but prances up the hall toward the bathroom and has put zero thought into hunting down anything to wear, if clean towels are in there (though of course there will be, he just knows it), or anything else, because he's riding something of an endorphin high, thanks?
... Countdown to feeling like a heel leaving Lan Zhan to clean up a mess that was Wei Wuxian's fault. It's going to happen, just after he's stepped into the shower. )
[Of course the bathroom has clan towels, Wei Ying. Wangji put some in before he went to sleep last night.
On his side, Wangji is more than happy to have things to do, because having a goal, and clear steps to go through to get to that goal, is actually helping him calm down a little. He's never really dated before, so he has next to zero idea of what that entails, but cleaning up, he can do.
So, first things first. The comforter is folded and brought back to the bedroom. Then Wangji takes out... well some of his own underwear, because that's all he has, but it's clean, and a white T-shirt with long sleeves and black leggings (because of course he doesn't have shorts and t-shirts for lounging around). These he puts on the bed in clear view.
Then it back to the kitchen. he gets the pan off the floor and into the sink first, with the spatula, then picks up the food, and finally mops up the grease on the floor. Washes the pan and spatula, and then get another set of those out to start cooking again.
( Midway through cleaning, with a clean towel wrapped around his chest to cover enough to make him less indecent than the last time he was on camera, a dripping Wei Wuxian comes dashing into the kitchen area in a wet minor panic, exclaiming: )
[..... No, no, Wei Ying you do not, in fact, look more decent than the last time you were on camera and also, you're dripping water on the tile he just mopped.]
... Wei Ying.
Finish your shower, dry your hair and get dressed first.
[How are you going to go and clean while wearing a towel? Knowing you, it's going to fall down midway, and your new boyfriend is not quite ready for full frontal nudity just yet.]
( ... He wants to insist, but frankly, one look at Lan Zhan, and the towel wrapped Wei Wuxian just goes: )
Ahahaha... right!
( Then turns and dashes more sedately back to the shower, because. Compared to last time, or five minutes earlier, it feels a lot more suggestive to be dripping wet and naked behind a towel in from of Lan Zhan, which did not occur to him either until he was out there.
Wei Wuxian's shower is... slightly longer than he'd anticipated. One hundred percent of it is giving him time to try and collect his thoughts.
The effort fails.
When he does emerge, it's wearing all Lan Zhan's borrowed clothes laid out for him, his hair damp but brushed and loosely braided to leave a singular damp trail through the borrowed shirt, and Wei Wuxian, standing again in the kitchen, vaguely holding his arms out to his sides and examining his front like there's anything to see musing, out loud: )
( Oh. Oh. Oh, he loves when he knows useless things Lan Zhan doesn't about popular culture, because he knows so many useless things about popular culture. Tugging at his sleeves, mostly to pull them up from his hand and see about doing a small fold back to leave his wrists partly exposed, he ambles closer to Lan Zhan, eyes flicking up with a very obvious grin. )
You know, when couples wear each other's clothing. Though I think half the idea with boyfriend shirts is you're stealing them because you just want to wear them yourself, and no offense, but wearing your buttondowns most days will just make me look like I don't know how to dress myself in business casual.
( Teasing, partly, but also aware of necessary looks and how things have to properly layer to look put together instead of like a mockery of fashion sense. Still, he's also come close enough now that he's hovering over Lan Zhan's shoulder to look down at his new batch of breakfast edibles, heavily debating internally if he should reach out or not. He ultimately...
... does not, and instead shuffles around to Lan Zhan's less busy side to stand there, shoulders brushing, looking down at the pan. )
You're free to wear whatever of mine you want, I have a few things that'd fit, if you could stand wearing any of them.
[Well, that's also because Wangji's button-downs are not your size, Wei Ying, since your shoulders are decidedly less wide and you pack a lot less muscle.
Which would mean they would be too big on you and you would have to roll the sleeves, and don't you know, that actually sounds pretty nice to look at, now that Wangji thinks about it.
Wangji is very aware of where Wei Ying is at all times now, so even though he is focusing on the cooking he still hears him come closer, but didn't quiet expect him to all but plaster himself to him - he did not, but to a Lan, that's basically what it is.
He spares a side look, and then goes back to focusing on the cooking.]
You're thinner than me and we don't wear the same colors.
I own t-shirts and I think you'd look nice in them.
( Comes across as a more teasing, somewhat arch quip, though he's not lying. Slightly tighter t-shirts do wonders for showcasing that difference in musculature, right? )
At least around the house.
( He can't imagine Lan Zhan in anything but his usual colours outside the house. It doesn't compute.
Asked to pour the tea, he steps away, gathering up what he feels they need and setting the pot on the tray at the table. )
Mah, I'll pour once we're ready, no need to let the tea start cooling too soon. Placemats or anything?
[The teasing only falls a little flat because it doesn't come to Wangji's mind that his ... boyfriend... might like to see him in a tight shirt that would make his muscles stand out. So this extra 'around the house' only earns a vaguely confused look.]
Just one for you. I've already had breakfast.
[Because he's been up for almost five hours himself already, but he'll have a cup of tea.]
Ahahaha, you, why are you up with the dawn? One day, Lan Zhan, one day you'll sleep in and we'll eat breakfast together.
( The vague confusion sets a Thought into sprouting in Wei Wuxian's head, left for tending on another day. As it is, he gestures for his very-new boyfriend to take a seat, pouring the tea with more refinement than anyone who only knew him from the university would expect out of him. He'd been raised properly, whatever else was said, and he knows the ways of it even when he has pointedly nudged tradition to his own ends, time and time again.
It helps that all the traditions are new, relearned and recaptured from a time that denied them. It does not help that he's too quick embracing the future and the reinterpretation of rediscovered pasts. He's a headache for several reasons, but he's never minded it overmuch.
Tea poured, he slides one to where Lan Zhan generally sits, and smiles, before turning to ferret out a placemat for himself, setting it down on the table. )
( then again, he does recall Lan Zhan has rather packed mornings. )
... Won't you want to eat after working out? That doesn't take you three hours.
( Wei Wuxian might take that long after Lan Zhan wakes up to roll out of bed and into motion.
He does settle in to eating after that, not forgetting to praise Lan Zhan in the process: overacted, in part, because he tends to be like that, but every word sincere. He's a little more self conscious today, so his eyes tend to dart down again after eye contact, and he sits a touch more stiffly, but he relaxes over the course of his meal. )
[Don't worry, Wei Ying, he won't actually let himself starve.
Besides, watching you eat his food is a joy in itself. he's just going to sip his tea and watch you. Where Wei Ying's eyes are a bit shifty and uncertain, darting off to the side, Wanji is outright staring, and unashamedly so.
That's his boyfriend here. It still barely feels real. But the memory of Wei Ying's lips on his is very real.]
( He feels all the staring more than usual, since he tends to shrug it off as Lan Zhan making sure he eats, since it's not terribly normal watching anyone eat? He thinks? He's not sure, parents might do such with children, but also his joy of shared cooking tends to leave people crying, and he definitely watches with keen interest to see if anyone's ever going to appreciate things he makes without needing to visit a clinic for what comes after. One day.
As it is, he does eat, politely... picking up his plate after a grin and another, pointed thank you, planning to head to the kitchen to do the part of this he can manage: the cleaning. Rinsing? The Stuff Where Plates Are Cleaned. He's got this. )
[Wangji sips his tea and watches. He's not uncomfortable with silence, never has been, but he knows Wei Ying tends to be, which is why he babbles. But for now, he eats the food, and then goes to rinse his plate... and when he does, Wangji acts on instinct.
He gets up and walks behind Wei Ying and wraps his arms around Wei Ying's waist.]
( It's not strange to hear Lan Zhan get up and come after him, he has his own prescribed way of doing everything after all, what he doesn't expect is what he probably should have.
Namely, getting hugged from behind. He outright flinches in Lan Zhan's arms, more of a checked urge to jump at the unexpected surprise: he doesn't talk about it, but as much as they both are reserved in touch in general, Wei Wuxian knows he seems far more liberal, but this is so much. The plate almost slips out of his hands to go crashing to the ground, only caught at the last moment when he leans forward and snatches it with one hand, without having managed to pull himself away from Lan Zhan.
He ends up making a sort of choked off yelp sound, then laughs, a bit breathlessly: )
Lan Zhan, how am I going to do that when you're like this?
( As if Lan Zhan was going to barnacle on to his waist around the whole kitchen or something. )
[Let him savor this a bit, will you? So yes, his front his plastered to you back and his cheek against yours, and he just... needs a moment to realize he's finally caught you after all this time.]
( ... He's very warm. Warm, and firm, and easy to lean back into, settling into that embrace with more ease than he expected he'd have felt with anyone, really. )
I honestly don't remember.
( Probably not, but asking him to think about that right now feels difficult. )
Did you?
( Man holding plate in kitchen while being cuddled by his boyfriend: holy shit, he's his boyfriend. )
( Is he actually moving?! Or not?! He's still holding on! Wei Wuxian brings the plate up higher, until it's resting against his chest. )
Did you want me not to?
( He hadn't... thought that far ahead. Wasn't he staying? Didn't he usually? Was that supposed to change one way or the other. Is he ever getting this plate in the goshdarn dishwasher?! )
[If you had classes, he would have made you go, but apparently today 'I don't remember' won't prompt an urging to open your calendar and check.]
I'll put your clothes in the wash.
[One last nuzzle and he finally lets go, leaving the area to go get said clothes and chuck them in the washing machine along with some of his own. He'll get them to the dryer afterwards so Wei Ying can change back into them.]
